Language Arts February 27-March 3
6th graders have been independently reading their switched book and answering discussion questions using their comparative skills in analyzing and evaluating from the information of their previous book. This makes for a better class discussion on the sub-theme and conflicts in the books.
Students are continuing their Black History Tweets in which they tweet a quote from their assigned figure from Black History. The students like this assignments and discuss the quotes and relate how these quotes are relevant to current events today. We will continue this tweeting in March for Women’s History Month. Students who have been assigned a woman will keep her and others will be assigned a woman who impacted society to tweet out her quotes.
We are also starting an essay writing component where students take all of their analytical skills and lesson of persuasion, to write a persuasive essay on an agreed topic.
There will be a test this week on Prefixes/Suffixes and a layered vocabulary quiz on Wednesday and Thursday. Homework will be assigned if student do not complete their in-class assignment.

3D Animal Bank
Objectives:
- Create 3D art using paper maché.
- Collaborative work.
- Use the principle of color correctly.
Students have finished creating their paper maché animal banks. This week they will be applying acrylic paint to add eyes, wings, feathers, tails etc.

During this week, the students will work on developing the following fundamental skills of DODGEBALL: throwing, catching, blocking, dodging and accuracy. Students will put this knowledge to test in games. During the week, the students will also have a fitness test
REMINDER:
I would like to remind you that all students need to be dressed appropriately for the days that they have P.E. class. Students should refrain from using the following:
– Dresses for the girls
– Jeans (shorts or pants)
– Crocks
– Sandals
– Boots
PLEASE TAKE NOTE:
In order to participate in class activities and receive full credit for the class, students need to wear appropriate clothing for P.E. class.

3D ART
Animal Banks
Students have been working hard creating a structure for their sculptures. They began using paper maché and a balloon to build upon. They later added the limbs for whatever real animal or animate animal they chose. This week we intend to finish all the structural part of the project to be able to begin to paint.
