Language Arts January 23-27

6th graders did a very good job with the self-portrait assignment and drawing what the believe the characters from the look like.

We will spend this week concluding the critical thinking portion (Socratic questioning) of how these characters survived great odds and then begin the process of “interviewing” these two characters for a news story.  With their vocab activities and critical thinking skills, this should be another high performing activity with great grades.

Students have been experimenting with paper maché. They have begun to create the body of their project using paper maché and a balloon. They will continue to add more layer of newspaper to make it stronger.

Physical Education January 23-27, 2017

SIXTH GRADE:

During this week, the students will be working in the basic concepts of volleyball, and they will develop the following fundamental skills: serving, spike and blocking. Students will put this knowledge to test in games. During the week, the students will have a fitness test.

REMINDER:

I would like to remind you that all students need to be dressed appropriately for the days that they have P.E. class. Students should refrain from using the following:

–  Dresses for the girls

–  Jeans (shorts or pants)

–  Crocks

–  Sandals

–  Boots

PLEASE TAKE NOTE:

In order to participate in class activities and receive full credit for the class, students need to wear appropriate clothing for P.E. class.

 

GOALS: 

We will use the word RESPECT to set the main goals for the year.

MUSIC 6 (Jan.16 -20)

Students will bring their electronics to class in order to look for 3 different options of popular songs  to be performed in class. After selecting the songs with the teacher, they will print one to practice during the quarter.
