Language Arts February 22

6th graders will finish reading Where the Red Fern Grows and use the book and an additional short story to build their skills on making inferences.  They will research information for an essay to write using advantages and disadvantages  and prior knowledge of a certain policy.  There will be homework this week starting on Wednesday to research for their essay and to write the essay.  There will be a test on Friday on making inferences.

Los alumnos prepararán una presentación individual en el cual ellos se filmarán relatando los datos más significativos de su investigación y envían su video al correo electrónico sandino@discoveryschool.edu.hn   El video debe tener una duración de 4-6 minutos filmado en un ambiente con suficiente iluminación y silencio, vestido formalmente como si fuera un noticiero, hablado lo más claro posible y totalmente en español, puede hacer uso de un mapa, cartel, o cualquier otro elemento para hacer su presentación atractiva y dinámica, debe ser de pie no sentado.  Incluyan todo lo relacionado con el país asignado. Dicho trabajo deberá ser entregado a más tardar el día viernes 26.

Debido a la cantidad de trabajo que representa hacer el video,  les anuncio que post pondré su entrega para el lunes 29.

P.E Class this week February 22-26, 2016

I Would like to remind parents to send your children dressed in an appropriate way for the days that they have P.E.class:

– No dresses for the girl

– No jeans

– No crocks

– No Sandals

– No boots

-No Converse(All Stars)

Children who are not wearnig the appropriate clothing will not be allowed to participate in P.E class.

Goals:  We will use the word R. E. S. P. E. C. T. to set the main goals for the year.

R – Right to Learn – Every child has this right to be educated!

E – Effort – Win or lose, trying is the most important trait.

S – Safety – The number one priority each and every day!

This week, students will continue with their presentations.  Once done, they will continue to expand their vocabulary with the new set of words presented in our next lesson. They will, read, discuss, and interpret in their own words the story introduced in these lessons. They will write short essays about the story in the lesson using proper capitalization, punctuation, spelling, and subject/verb agreement. 

Students should practice Spanish every day. Let them choose their books to read. Ask them to read them for you with expression and fluency.
