6th graders will continue to read Where the Red Fern Grows and continuing with building their skills on making an inference. With making an inference, students will read the short story For Girls Only which argues the position for girls-only middle/high schools. Students are discovering what the advantages and disadvantages are for girls-only schools, what are the facts, expert opinion and anecdotes. Then students will move onto their own advantage/disadvantage essay on the 4-day school week vs the late start school day and make some of the same inferences, pros/cons, facts etc…. Students will have homework on Tuesday and Wednesday and a quick quiz on Thursday.
